		<title>Network Channels</title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/123-network-channels/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[There are a number of channels (chat rooms) ran/endorsed by the IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat network, they are as follows:<br />
 <br />
<a href='http://www.freejavachat.com/chat.php?chan=help' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'><strong class='bbc'>#help</strong></a> - This is the official IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat network help channel. If you need help with a network related issue this is the place to go. Simply join, ask your question, and if a network staff member is available they will assist you or forward your question to a staff member who can.<br />
 <br />
<strong class='bbc'><a href='http://www.freejavachat.com/chat.php?chan=lobby' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>#lobby</a></strong> - This is the official IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat general all-ages chat channel. Chat topics are a mixed bag, but must remain family friendly. Personal info, profanity, and topics that are inappropriate for children/teens are strictly off limits. Religious and political discussions also prohibited.<br />
 <br />
<a href='http://www.freejavachat.com/chat.php?chan=trivia' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'><strong class='bbc'>#trivia</strong></a> - This is the official IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat trivia channel. General discussion is kept to a minimum as the trivia bot runs 24/7. Questions cover a range of many topics and efforts are made to keep them family friendly. Points are tracked by the hour, day, week, month, and year as well as the total, longest streak, and fastest answer.<br />
 <br />
<a href='http://www.freejavachat.com/chat.php?chan=teen-chat' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'><strong class='bbc'>#teen-chat</strong></a> - This is a network endorsed channel for teenagers ages 13 to 19. Topics vary, but are kept at a level generally appropriate for most teenagers. Much like #lobby, giving out personal information is forbidden.<br />
 <br />
<a href='http://www.freejavachat.com/chat.php?chan=clubhouse' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'><strong class='bbc'>#clubhouse</strong></a> - This is a network endorsed channel for adults. It is limited strictly to users that are at least 17 years of age. Topics vary and few limits are placed on them. This is currently our most popular channel.<br />
 <br />
Other channels are available, and can be viewed by clicking the 'rooms' button on our free chat applet, or by typing /list into your preferred IRC client.]]></description>

		<title>Frequently Asked Questions - General - READ THIS FIRST</title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/122-frequently-asked-questions-general-read-this-first/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[This is intended to provide answers for the most commonly asked questions we are asked. This will not answer every question you might have, but should take care of the basics. If you have any further questions that are not answered, or do not understand something in this thread, feel free to create a new topic or join <a href='http://www.freejavachat.com/chat.php?chan=help' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>#help</a>.<br />
 <br />
 <br />
<span style='font-size: 18px;'><strong class='bbc'>How can I connect to IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat?</strong></span><br />
There are several ways you can connect to the IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat network. You can use our free Java based applet, connect through a web based client such as Mibbit, or use a Windows/Mac OS/Linux/Browser based client such as mIRC, ChatZilla, Colloquy, or XChat.<br />
 <br />
If you choose to use our free Java based applet you can access it in a number of ways. You may access it from the <a href='http://www.freejavachat.com/chatrooms.html' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>FreeJavaChat</a> website or, if you're looking for a specific channel, it may have a website with our free Java based applet already set up. I will address how to set up the client in a seperate post.<br />
 <br />
If you choose to connect through a web based client, you may need to enter our information manually. If you're connecting using Mibbit you can simply select 'IRCStorm' from the drop-down menu next to 'Connect:' at <a href='http://chat.mibbit.com' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>Mibbit's</a> website, or use this <a href='http://chat.mibbit.com/?server=irc.ircstorm.net' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>preconfigured link</a>. For clients that need to be manually configured our network information is as follows:<br />
<p class='citation'>Quote</p><div class="blockquote"><div class='quote'>Server: irc.ircstorm.net<br />
Port: 6667</div></div><br />
 <br />
If you use a Windows/Mac OS/Linux/Browser based client you will need to set it up to connect to our servers manually. This varies depending on the client, so you will need to check the manual or FAQ for whichever client you choose to use. Our network information is as follows:<br />
<p class='citation'>Quote</p><div class="blockquote"><div class='quote'>Server: irc.ircstorm.net<br />
Port: 6667</div></div><br />
 <br />
If you are using a client that is capable of SSL connections and wish to use SSL you will need to enter our network information as follows:<br />
<p class='citation'>Quote</p><div class="blockquote"><div class='quote'>Server: irc.ircstorm.net<br />
Port: 6699</div></div><br />
 <br />
<span style='font-size: 18px;'><strong class='bbc'>I am unable to connect to IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat!</strong></span><br />
This could be due to any number of problems. Your first course of action should be to make sure your client is configured properly; please refer to "<strong class='bbc'>How can I connect to IRCStorm/FreeJavaChat?</strong>" for information on setting up your client.<br />
 <br />
If your client is properly configured the second course of action should be to make sure you're online. If you're viewing this page from the same computer you are most likely online. If not, check and see if you can access web pages or other online services from the computer you're trying to connect from. You can also attempt to clear up any connection issues by restarting your computer and/or power cycling your modem and/or router.<br />
 <br />
If you are still unable to connect you should check to see if you have a firewall on your computer blocking port 6667. Your modem and/or router may also be set up to block this port.<br />
 <br />
If after all the above you are still unable to connect you may be affected by an issue on our end. The IP address you're connecting from may be subject to a ban, if that's the case you should get a message informing you of such when you attempt to connect. Please contact <a href='mailto:akill@ircstorm.net' title='E-mail Link' class='bbc_email'>akill@ircstorm.net</a> with your nick and the details of any messages you might be receiving.<br />
 <br />
If you are still unable to connect please contact us at <a href='mailto:akill@ircstorm.net' title='E-mail Link' class='bbc_email'>akill@ircstorm.net</a> or create a post on this forum explaining your situation in as much detail as you can provide.<br />
 <br />
<span style='font-size: 18px;'><strong class='bbc'>How do I join a channel (chat room)?</strong></span><br />
There are several methods of joining a channel. The method you will use will vary depending on whether or not you know the channel name already.<br />
 <br />
If you know the channel name you can use the /join command. Upon successfully completing this command you will immediately be joined to up to three channels you specify. If the channels are passworded you will be required to enter a password as part of this command. All channel names are prefixed with the pound symbol (#), so if a channel were to be known as 'awesome' would be '#awesome'. The syntax for /join is as follows:<br />
<p class='citation'>Quote</p><div class="blockquote"><div class='quote'><strong class='bbc'>Command:</strong><br />
/join &lt;chan1&gt;,&lt;chan2&gt;,&lt;chan3&gt; &lt;key1&gt;,&lt;key2&gt;,&lt;key3&gt;<br />
<strong class='bbc'>Examples:</strong><br />
/join #help<br />
/join #help,#lobby<br />
/join #help,#lobby,#clubhouse<br />
-<br />
/join #secret letmein<br />
/join #secret,#private letmein,password<br />
/join #secret,#private,#nogirls letmein,password,boysonly<br /></div></div><br />
 <br />
<span style='font-size: 18px;'><strong class='bbc'>How do I change my nick (name)?</strong></span><br />
If this is your first time connecting, you may have a default nick given to you by the client you're using, or you may find your nick changed to 'Visitor_####'. Or you may just wish to change you're current nick to something else. To do this you will use the /nick command. Nicks are limited to 30 characters in length and may contain the following characters: a-z A-Z 0-9 [ &#092; ] ^ _ - { | }<br />
<p class='citation'>Quote</p><div class="blockquote"><div class='quote'><strong class='bbc'>Command:</strong><br />
/nick &lt;nickname&gt;<br />
<strong class='bbc'>Example:</strong><br />
/nick RubberDuckie<br />
/nick IRCStormUser<br /></div></div>]]></description>

		<title>User Status code manipulation</title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/38-user-status-code-manipulation/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[Below is code that parses the stats code. As written it stores (#) in a javascript global variable named jchatvar which can then be called anywhere on your page.<br />
Of course you need to rename RoomName to your room. So when your chatroom has 5 users, the variable will simply output (5) .<br />
This allows you to use an image link or any other link of your liking while still having a user count.<br />
<br />
For some reason it never goes below one, even if nobody is in the room. I think this may be a server side bug or room configuration issue on my channel. I'm not to sure though.<br />
<br />
<pre class='prettyprint'>
&lt;div ID='jcdiv'&gt;&lt;script language="JavaScript" src="http&#58;//www.freejavachat.com/stats_users.php?room=RoomName"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;**C* &lt;/div&gt;

&lt;script type="text/javascript"&gt;
	document.getElementById('jcdiv').innerHTML = document.getElementById('jcdiv').innerHTML.replace('#RoomName&lt;/a&gt; currently has ','&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div id="jchat"&gt; (');
	document.getElementById('jcdiv').innerHTML = document.getElementById('jcdiv').innerHTML.replace(' users**C*', ')&lt;/div&gt;');
	jchatvar = document.getElementById('jchat').innerHTML;
	document.getElementById('jchat').innerHTML = "";

		<title><![CDATA[[mIRC] Auto Identify On Connect + Simple Aliases]]></title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/33-mirc-auto-identify-on-connect-simple-aliases/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[So you have your nick registered, getting fed up with typing /identify --- everytime you connect? Lord knows I did!<br />
<br />
So to combat this Khaled Mardam Bey (The creator of mIRC) added a 'perform on connect' option.<br />
<br />
You can add any recognised IRC command to this for example /identify -----<br />
<br />
So lets get started!<br />
<br />
<ul class='bbc'><li>Tools &gt; Options(Ctrl + O)</li><li>'Connect' tab</li><li>Perform... box(Right hand side)</li><li>Type command</li><li>Click 'Ok' (Check Perform on connect is enabled(Tick box at top))</li></ul>
As an example my perform commands are:<br />
<ul class='bbc'><li>/identify --------</li><li>/mode $me +p</li></ul>
This will identify my on connect and set me to usermode +p (Private - Hides channels etc on /whois)<br />
<br />
The $me is an identifier built into mIRC and its coding language, I will make another post explaining those.<br />
<br />
Now onto Aliases! For short an alias is a command abbreviation.<br />
One example of this is <strong class='bbc'>/j</strong> which replaces <strong class='bbc'>/join</strong> there are many others and you can create your own.<br />
<br />
To get to where you need to enter these aliases, follow:<br />
<ul class='bbc'><li>Tools &gt; Script Editor(Alt + R)</li><li>Aliases tab</li></ul>
You will see a lot of preset aliases, one of which being <strong class='bbc'>/j </strong>another being <strong class='bbc'>/p</strong> and many more. From this you can see how an alises is set up ~<br />
<br />
<strong class='bbc'>/j /join #$1<br />
<br />
</strong>Lets break that down, <br />
<ul class='bbc'><li>/J ~ Abbreviated command</li><li>/Join ~ Full command</li><li>#$1 ~ Identifier for what you type after /J</li></ul>
So if I typed: /J #lobby that would be taken by the alias and turned into /Join #lobby<br />
<br />
You may see people with messages announcing when they go AFK (Away from keyboard) that can be done using an alias... Ill show you how to do that now!<br />
<ul class='bbc'><li>Firstly open your script editor and go to aliases</li><li>Choose what you wish to have for your abbreviation (I suggest /AFK)</li><li>Now in the alias section you want to type: /AFK /away $? | /amsg Away: $!</li><li>Now when you type /AFK a box will pop up asking what you want the message to be. So if you enter 'Getting a drink' in the box and hit enter, that's your away message.</li></ul>
Using this, if I type /AFK then enter 'Getting a drink' in the channels you are currently part of, you will say "Away: Getting a drink"<br />
<br />
So lets break this down as well ~<br />
<ul class='bbc'><li>/AFK /Away $? ~ This brings up a box in which you enter your away message, it then makes that your away message which is shown if someone messages you.</li><li>| /amsg Away: $! ~ /amsg sends a message to all rooms your in saying something as if you typed it. Away: $! is what is said BUT $! is replaced by what you entered in the box in the last step!</li></ul>
Now we know this I will show an example which may be confusing but you'll figure it out ~ <br />
<br />
<pre class='prettyprint'>&#91;Command&#93; /AFK *Box pops up* BRB

-Status Window- You are now away: BRB

-Rooms im part of- &lt;Darth&gt; Away: BRB</pre><br />
<br />
Thanks for reading, hope you got something from this <img src='http://forums.ircstorm.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />]]></description>

		<title>Using MemoServ</title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/31-using-memoserv/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[OK, Now you all know super basic IRC commands, and how to register your channel and nick. So now we are going to learn how to use <span class='bbc_underline'>MemoServ.</span> <br />
<br />
1: Sending a memo. To send a memo you type /msg MemoServ SEND [Nick or #Channel] [Message]<br />
<br />
2: Reading a memo: To read a memo someone has sent you or your channel, you must type /msg MemoServ READ [Memo number]<br />
<br />
3: Listing memo's people have sent you: To list all the memo's people have sent you, you type /msg MemoServ LIST<br />
<br />
That's all for now! If you liked it, there will be more where that came from!]]></description>

		<title><![CDATA[[mIRC] Enabling &#38; Adding auto join channels]]></title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/29-mirc-enabling-adding-auto-join-channels/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[Following on from Matt's post, enabling auto join is simple!<br />
<br />
<ul class='bbcol decimal'><li>Under the bar with 'File, Edit' etc on, between View and Favourites there is a heart with a # on it.. Click this</li><li>You will now see a small box, at the bottom there is a tick box saying "Enable Join On Connect" make sure this is ticked!</li></ul>
From here you have two options to add channels to your auto join, these are:<br />
<br />
<ul class='bbc'><li>Via the 'Favourites' GUI</li><li>Using the 'Favourites' tab on your toolbar</li></ul>
To use the GUI simply click 'Add' and enter the channel name (Including #, for example #lobby) then click the 'Enable join on connect' box so there is a tick there too.<br />
Repeat this for all channels.<br />
<br />
Or the alternative, the toolbar. Click 'Favourites' to show the drop down and click 'Add to favourites' you will see the same box as if you clicked 'Add' on the GUI but it will have the name of the active channel for example if you are adding #lobby, you want to click it while lobby is the open channel. From there you just need to tick 'Enable join on connect' and ok! Again repeat for each channel.]]></description>

		<title>All time best game?</title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/27-all-time-best-game/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[<span style='font-size: 14px;'>Hey there! <img src='http://forums.ircstorm.net/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' /><br />
<br />
In your opinion, what is the best game out right now? Please explain your reasoning behind it as well. <br />
<br />
The best game, in my opinion, would have to be Grand Theft Auto: Ballad of Tony. Mostly because of the way it is set up. You get to do mostly whatever you want. There is hardly any limitations. The graphic's are pretty good. I've found hardly any glitches within the game, whereas some games have a few. The weaponry used in it is quite amazing. Using a rocket launcher to kill people, helicopter to escape and sink a cruise ship, has to be fun! Well, in my book, that is. <br />
 It's a very close tie to Assassins Creed, though. I enjoy games where you have to use intelligence in order to defeat the target/accomplish the task. <br />

		<description><![CDATA[So, I just wanted ask a general question what constitutes for a "Weird/Awkward Moment"? My example will be below, but share others if you'd like. <img src='http://forums.ircstorm.net/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /><br />
<br />
Example for me: I'm jogging down the street, with my dog by my side. Nothing weird about that right? Then all of a sudden we pass by a house that has a little outside party going on in the lawn, and when I pass by everyone goes silent and a few people look at me. As I jog faster one of them says "Nice dog!" I look back, and they're still watching me. So I turn the corner, and then they start blaring the music and talking again. Now maybe it's just me but isnt that AWKWARD!?! <span rel='lightbox'><img src='http://forums.ircstorm.net/public/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /></span>]]></description>

		<title>Registering A Channel</title>
		<link>http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?/topic/15-registering-a-channel/</link>
		<description><![CDATA[Now that your nick is registered, I will show you how to register a channel.<br />
<br />
If you have not already, the first thing you will do is connect to our server using the applet.<br />
<br />
Once you are connected you will see something similar to this:<br />
<a class='resized_img' rel='lightbox[41]' id='ipb-attach-url-8-0-64663200-1337385262' href="http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=8" title="regchanjava001.png - Size: 14.06K, Downloads: 1"><img src="http://forums.ircstorm.net/uploads/monthly_09_2010/post-2-049294200 1285628035_thumb.png" id='ipb-attach-img-8-0-64663200-1337385262' style='width:100;height:53' class='attach' width="100" height="53" alt="Attached Image: regchanjava001.png" /></a><br />
<br />
If your nick is Visitor_# then you will want to change it to your registered nick and then identify.<br />
<br />
Once all the above is squared away you will need to join the channel you wish to register. To do this you will use the following command, replacing <em class='bbc'>#channel</em> with the name of the channel you wish to join (please include the #).<br />
<br />
<pre class='prettyprint'>/join #channel</pre><br />
It should look something like this:<br />
<a class='resized_img' rel='lightbox[41]' id='ipb-attach-url-9-0-66802500-1337385262' href="http://forums.ircstorm.net/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=9" title="regchanjava002.png - Size: 14.94K, Downloads: 1"><img src="http://forums.ircstorm.net/uploads/monthly_09_2010/post-2-011215000 1285628036_thumb.png" id='ipb-attach-img-9-0-66802500-1337385262' style='width:100;height:53' class='attach' width="100" height="53" alt="Attached Image: regchanjava002.png" /></a><br />
<br />
If you have done it correctly you will join the specified channel, for this example we will use #bedrock. If you are the only user and the channel has not been previously register you should be given operator status, shown by a @ next to your nickname.<br />
